Hi all! New expression for you: ”A wake-up call” : it can be used in 2 ways.
First, a hotel can place a ”wake-up call” to your room in the morning to be sure you awake at the proper time.
Second, when something ”awakens” your mind to a new way of thinking you may have been previously oblivious to.
For example: My high blood pressure was a ”wake-up call” to change diet & exercise habits.
Another Example for ”wake-up call”: My bad job review was a ”wake-up call” for me to get focused and work harder- otherwise I may be fired from my job!
All the best- Cindy
