“Don’t count your chickens before they hatch” is a way to say: don’t anticipate something before it actually happens.
EXAMPLE: ”I’m going to make A LOT more money with my new job! Tomorrow I’m going to buy a brand new car & a bunch of new clothes so I can look good.”
ANSWER: ”Don’t you think you’re counting your chickens before they hatch? I mean, you haven’t even gotten your 1st paycheck & already you’re spending money on expensive new things!”
All the best, Cindy
